Elementary menu notes…..
As we pass the mid-point of the school year, I would like to reiterate the USDA school meal regulations that took effect this year. All meals include a serving of lean protein, a bread or grain, 2 choices of vegetables, a choice of fresh or cupped fruit, and a serving of low-fat or fat-free milk. All of our meals are baked or steamed; we do not have fryers in our kitchens. The majority of our breads and grains are whole grains. Students may choose 2 different vegetables with their lunch at no extra charge. Students may choose 1 serving of fruit with their lunch; a second serving can be purchased a la carte. All meals are analyzed for their nutritional value, and meet the US Dietary Guidelines for this age group.
We are continuing with fresh-made soups and salad plates every Wednesday, and welcome your input as to what you would like to see on the menu.
